How it works

  1. Tell us what it’s doing

Ring us and describe the noise, the warning light or the problem. We’ll tell you what it’s likely to be before you bring the car in.

  2. We diagnose it properly

A fault code tells us which circuit is reporting a problem, not which part has failed. We test before we replace anything.

  3. You approve the price

We tell you what it costs and whether it needs doing now. Nothing gets replaced without your say-so.

Open seven days a week, 8am to 5pm

Most Birmingham garages close at lunchtime on Saturday and stay shut on Sunday. We are open 08:00 to 17:00 every day of the week, weekends included. That matters more than it sounds: if you work full time, a weekday drop-off usually means losing a day’s pay or arranging a lift, which is why so many small faults get left until they turn into expensive ones.

Booking a brake job for a Sunday morning is not a luxury. It is the difference between fixing worn pads now and replacing scored discs in six weeks. We are also a DVSA-approved MOT test centre, so a weekend MOT does not have to cost you a working day either.

Birmingham driving is unusually hard on cars

The wear pattern on a car driven inside the A4540 Middleway looks nothing like the same model driven on a motorway commute. Manufacturer service intervals are written around steady long-distance running, and most city cars never see it.

  • Brakes. Stop-start traffic on the A38 Aston Expressway and the Middleway ring puts far more braking cycles into every mile. Speed humps through Moseley, Kings Heath and Handsworth add more again. Pads that would last 40,000 rural miles are often finished by 20,000 here.
  • Engine oil. Short urban journeys frequently end before the engine reaches full operating temperature, so condensation and unburnt fuel stay in the oil instead of boiling off. A long-life interval of 20,000 miles is designed for motorway use; a car that mostly circles the city centre wants a fixed annual or 10,000-mile change.
  • Diesel particulate filters. A DPF needs a sustained run to regenerate. City-only diesels block them, then the warning light comes on, then it goes into limp mode on the Middleway at 5pm. That one needs proper DPF diagnosis and cleaning rather than a replacement part.
  • Suspension repair and alignment. Potholes and kerbing in multi-storey car parks knock tracking out and kill shock absorbers early. It usually shows up first as uneven tyre wear on the inside edge.

None of that is a reason to panic about your car. It is a reason to have it serviced by somebody who knows how it has actually been driven.

You get the price before we touch anything

The single most common complaint about garages is not the bill — it is the bill nobody warned you about. We tell you what is wrong, what it costs, and whether it genuinely needs doing now or can reasonably wait until the next service. If it can wait, we say so.

We also do not treat a fault code as a diagnosis. A code names the circuit that is reporting a problem, not the part that has failed. P0420 does not mean “buy a catalytic converter” — it means something in that circuit is out of range, and finding out which is what a diagnostic is for. Replacing parts until the light goes out is how people end up paying twice.

Getting here, and the Clean Air Zone

We are in Birmingham city centre, which puts us inside the Clean Air Zone. We would rather tell you that upfront than have you discover it on a charge notice.

Most cars are unaffected. The daily charge applies to non-compliant vehicles — broadly, petrol cars older than Euro 4 and diesels older than Euro 6 — which pay a daily charge. If your car is newer than that, you pay nothing. If you are not sure, Birmingham City Council’s online vehicle checker will tell you in a few seconds from the registration, and it is worth checking before you set off rather than assuming.

If you are travelling in from outside the ring road and your car is non-compliant, ring us first and we will talk through the options rather than let you drive into a charge unprepared.

Frequently asked questions

Are you open on Sundays?

Yes. We are open 08:00 to 17:00 every day of the week, including Saturday and Sunday. Most Birmingham garages close at lunchtime on Saturday and do not open on Sunday at all, so weekend slots tend to book up first.

What are your opening hours?

08:00 to 17:00, seven days a week. If you need to drop a car off outside those hours, ring us and we will see what we can arrange.

Do you carry out MOT tests?

Yes. We are a DVSA-approved MOT test centre, so the test is carried out here on site by a licensed tester. We are also a repair garage, so anything that fails can usually be put right the same day — though you are under no obligation to have the work done with us. The Class 4 fee is capped by law at £54.85.

Do I have to pay the Clean Air Zone charge to reach you?

Only if your vehicle is non-compliant. We are inside the Birmingham Clean Air Zone, where a daily charge applies for vehicles that do not meet the standard — broadly petrol cars older than Euro 4 and diesels older than Euro 6. Most cars pay nothing. Birmingham City Council's online checker will confirm it from your registration in a few seconds.

Do you work on all makes and models?

Yes, cars and vans of all makes. Ring us with the registration and the symptom and we will tell you what it is likely to be before you bring it in.

Will servicing here affect my manufacturer warranty?

No. Under the UK's Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Order you can have a car serviced at an independent garage without voiding the manufacturer's warranty, provided the work follows the manufacturer's schedule and the correct specification parts and fluids are used. We record what was done so your service history stands up.

How much will the repair cost?

You get the price before any work starts, and nothing is replaced without your say-so. Costs vary by vehicle and by what the fault turns out to be, so ring us with the registration and the symptom and we will give you a realistic figure rather than a number that changes once the car is on the ramp.

Not sure what’s wrong?

Ring us and describe what the car is doing. We’ll tell you what it’s likely to be and roughly what it will cost before you bring it in.
